Fire Extinguisher Inspection

Why do I need a fire extinguisher inspection? This important piece of equipment often sits forgotten until the time of need. But, are you sure yours will work at that desperate moment arrives when you reach for it? It’s a consequence you never want to face.

At Briscoe Protective, we make it our priority to ensure it does so you don’t have to think about it.

Fire safety is of the utmost importance to businesses and business owners. The first step to maintaining a safe work environment is to make sure that your fire extinguisher is being inspected properly.

Monthly fire extinguisher inspections are the best way to ensure that your workplace is safe. Criteria for monthly inspections are:

  • Make sure the extinguisher is visible and in the designated location.
  • Examine the extinguisher for physical damage, rust, leakage, or a clogged nozzle.
  • Confirm the pressure gauge or indicator is in the operable range or position, and lift the extinguisher to ensure it is still full.
  • Check to see if the extinguisher has been professionally serviced in the last 6 months.

Every 6 months, you should have the extinguishers serviced whether or not it they have been used. These inspections are to ensure that the extinguisher is fully pressurized, weighed appropriately and not damaged. These inspections also require a pull test on the safety pin and a replacement of the seal. If your fire extinguisher does not meet these requirements, it will have to be replaced.

Extinguishers that store a pressurized agent must have its contents removed and refilled every 6 years and hydrostatic testing every 12 years.

Make sure you’re ready for that moment. Let Briscoe Protective perform your fire extinguisher inspections today and protect your business for years to come.
